Nikki Gil Says She’s Contented With Her Life Now After Leaving Showbiz

For those who have been part of the showbiz industry for quite a long time, they already know that their fame and fortune are uncertain. Nobody can promise them that they will always be on top or if what they have today can stay for such a period of time.

This is maybe the reason why many of them choose to invest their hard-earned money in business or other investments so that they can have alternative sources of income when their fame fades away.

On the other hand, there are also celebrities that are still in demand in the entertainment field but they chose to leave the limelight for some personal reason. One of them is Monica Pauline Gil or more popularly known as Nikki Gil. She is a singer, actress, host, model, and former video jockey, who is known for being part of the afternoon remake of Carlo J. Caparas’ Pieta in 2008.

For her part, the 32-year-old celebrity decided to bid goodbye to showbiz and settled down because of her family.

After a few years of laying low from the public eye, she recently accepted a musical project. She will be starring in the iconic Broadway musical Carousel along with Gian Magdangal as part of Repertory Philippines’s new lineup this year.

During the press conference, Nikki said that she had no regrets in choosing a more simple life with her husband and son, however, there are also times that she misses the industry she grew up with.

“I’m not missing it much yet (laughs). I’m happy with my quiet life. But I do miss work and the people that I used to work with. Of course I kind of grew up in the industry as well so I spent many years with the staff and my fellow artists. I miss the bond but I think I’ve enjoyed that season enough and I’m just enjoying my season now which is motherhood. I’m an interior design student and now theater,” the first-time celebrity mom said.

Aside from being a full-time mom and wife, Nikki is also busy with her second degree at the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID).

It was in November 2015 when the former actress married her now-husband, businessman BJ Albert (nephew of singer-actress Joey Albert). Two years later, Nikki gave birth to their first child, a son named Finn.

“I didn’t realize that it’s going to be a lot of work. Especially after having a baby. It’s not as easy to get a lot of work done but I’m managing (laughs). It might take me longer than what I had intended but I just want to finish. I’ve always liked nice spaces. My mom is an interior design graduate. We’ve always kind of flipped houses, make it nice and then sell. My husband is in the real estate industry so it just kind of made sense to dabble,” she added.
