Look: First Anniversary Celebration Of Maine Mendoza And Arjo Atayde

Love is truly in the air for celebrity couple Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde, who just celebrated their first anniversary of being in a relationship.

Maine and Arjo marked their first anniversary on Saturday, December 21, by sharing a photo of them together while the two apparently aboard a yacht.

On Instagram, the 24-year-old famous actress, who is best known for her viral Dubsmash video and her role as “Yaya Dub” in the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga wrote a short but sweet message to declare the length of her relationship with Arjo.

Maine’s photo caption: “Happy first [heart emoji].”

In the comment section, the Kapamilya actor that appears to be very open about his love for the Kapuso actress replied by writing, “I’m crying… I love you [heart emoji].”

Aside from her boyfriend, their fans and supporters also showed their support in the couple by greeting them on their special day.

Many celebrities also extended their happiness for their fellow actors, Maine ad Arjo in reaching this first milestone as a couple. Among them is Arjo’s younger sister, actress Ria Atayde.

“My hearttt [teary eyes emoji]. Happy anniversary, love birds! Loffyu both [yellow heart emoji],”

Ria wrote.

Celebrity mom Bianca Gonzales greeted them by leaving the comment, “Very happy for you both.”

They also received a message from Iza Calzado, who wrote: “So happy for you both! Happy Anniversary!!!”

As of this writing, Maine’s post already garnered over 450k likes on Instagram.

Arjo, on the other hand, expressed his happiness an hour after Maine’s post by writing a sweet message for his “babs,” the term he used as an endearment for Maine. He also included a photo of them holding hands at the beach.

He wrote: “Thank you for everything, babs. Happy first anniversary!!! I love you [heart emoji].”

Maine and Arjo first met at the story conference of the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles,” starring Coco Martin and Vic Sotto. In this movie Maine played one of the lead roles while Arjo played a supporting role.

Few months after this, rumors about the two being an item started to surfaced online as they were spotted together in public, followed by their first date sighting in a restaurant Makati on October 11, 2018.

However, it was only last January when Arjo said in an interview with PEP.ph that he was “exclusively dating” Maine.

On March 2, 2016, the Kapuso actress admitted that she was dating Arjo.

Maine wrote in her social media post as she revealed their status then: “Again, without waiting any longer, here’s the statement and confirmation you have been waiting for: It’s true, I am dating Arjo.”

“I know, I have been reading tweets from my supporters and I am well aware that majority of them are not in favor of him – of anyone, actually. And I understand the sentiments of some because of the ‘loveteam culture’ here in the Philippines.”

She went on to defend the actor from those who are not in favor of her dating Arjo, “You might be waiting for an explanation as to why I chose him. Excuse me for saying this but… why not? I wouldn’t deny that our friendship is growing deeper with time.

“He always goes out of his way to make me extra happy and actually puts in effort in everything he does. I appreciate everything he does for me and I am happy that I get to experience such wonderful things.”
