The country’s most sought-after on-screen love team KathNiel (made up of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla) started when the two appeared in the afternoon youth-oriented drama series “Growing Up” way back in 2011.
The couple spent the past eight years together as they starred in several hit TV series and films such as “Sisterakas,” “24/7 in Love,” “She’s Dating the Gangster,” “Must Be Love,” “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay,” “Crazy Beautiful You,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Barcelona: A Love Untold” and their latest movie together, “The Hows of Us,” in 2018.

Many people speculated that Kathryn and Daniel are also a couple in real life because of their noticeable chemistry on and off-screen. However, it was only last year when the two decided to announce to the public about their real status. They also revealed that they’ve been in a relationship for more than five years.
After spending many years together as a pair, the celebrity couple chose to explore their individuality as actors. That’s why this year, Kathryn was paired to actor Alden Richards in the blockbuster movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” which was filmed in Hongkong. This movie is now considered as the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.

But while the 23-year-old actress is busy filming this movie, Daniel admittedly had a difficult time adjusting with Kathryn’s month-long absence. This happened since they are both used to working in movies and other projects with the presence of one another.
That was the time when Daniel decided to arrange a surprise visit to Kathryn during her taping in Hong Kong.
In a recent interview on the late-night talk show “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” DJ opened up about the challenges that he faced when his girlfriend was filming the said movie.

According to him, there were times when he couldn’t do anything but wonder what Kathryn is doing since they are not allowed to talk all the time. He even reached a point in his life where he considered as his “dark times.”
DJ also admitted that he and Kathryn are already discussing plans about marriage, but it will still take time for them before they settle down as for now they’re in the process of saving for their future.
During the interview, he also shared that they are currently gearing up for an upcoming teleserye in 2020.
