Look: Pokwang Will Open Her Own Filipino Restaurant In Antipolo Next Year

49-year-old comedienne-actress Marietta Subong or better known by her stage name Pokwang is on her way of fulfilling her dream to open her own restaurant in Antipolo.

The celebrity mom shared some details about her dream business during a recent interview when she attended the media launch of her newest endorsement, Regasco LPG. According to Pokwang, “Sa Antipolo kami muna. As much as possible, ‘yung may parking (space). Bibilhin ko pa lang (‘yung lupa). Nagne-negotiate na kami.”

Another good news for most of us is that this soon-to-rise restaurant of the celebrity mom will be serving mainly Filipino dishes. “Ang iniisip namin parang sa Kusina ni Mamang at Papang, parang ganoon. Very Filipino,” Pokwang added.

Sharing more of her restaurant ideas, the comedienne-actress who previously worked abroad mentioned that she is dedicating this upcoming business to all the OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers). In that way, they can enjoy more classic Filipino dishes whenever they visit the country.

“Kasi marami rin akong followers abroad ‘yung mga OFW siyempre alam natin na na mi-miss nila ang pagkaing Pinoy. Gusto ko na ‘yung pag-uwi nila sa Pilipinas isa ‘yon sa ilu-look forward nila na pumunta sa place namin,” the celebrity mom said.

When asked for the possible date of their opening, Pokwang said that the target date of her very own Filipino restaurant would be a mid-next year, “Kailangang positive ka, sabi ni God. So next year po talaga ang target namin, mid-next year.”

Her eldest daughter Ria Mae, who just graduated last year with a degree in Culinary Arts from Enderun Colleges, might also play a big part in this upcoming business of her celebrity mom.

On the other hand, Pokwang herself is also known for her amazing talent in cooking. As a matter of fact, her love and devotion in preparing delicious meals were shown in her cookbook entitled, “Patikim, Pokie!”

This book that offers recipes of her savory dishes mixed with some “hugot” lines got nominated in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, as one of the best cookbooks of 2017.
