The 63-year-old celebrity doctor is undeniably one of the most trusted names when it comes to cosmetic surgery in our country today. Unknown to many, this very successful woman in her chosen field also experienced being bullied during her younger years, and this became her motivation to establish her own beauty empire.
Dra. Vicki Belo was one of the judges for It’s Showtime “Magpasikat” 2019, this week-long special performance in the program marks their 10th year anniversary.
The Unkabogable star Vice Ganda’s amazing “Magpasikat” performance featured self-love and “hair story” of people who are suffering from alopecia, a skin condition that leads to uncontrollable hair loss. Vice graced the big stage while changing different outfits and several wig hairstyles.
After Vice Ganda’s meaningful and touching performance on stage, Dra. Vicki Belo broke down in tears as she revealed that when she was a child, she experienced being called fat and adopted.
She shared, So when I was a child, I was very fat. I was 5 years old, I weighed a hundred pounds. And I was adopted, ampon po ako ng mga Belo.”
Sharing more of her traumatic past experience, Dra. Vicki Belo added,
“Iyong mga kids tinutukso ako, ‘Bakit ka pinamigay, dahil pangit ka? Or dahil ang taba mo?’”
“I think people don’t understand that the reason I went into beauty is [because] I want to make everyone beautiful. Because when they’re more beautiful, they’re more loved, accepted,” she added.
Dra. Vicki Belo also shared that her husband Hayden Kho has been an avid fan of the comedian for almost 20 years, it is because her husband recognized that Vice is really a special person.
She also told Vice, “You’re an inspiration to a lot of people.”
After all the great performances of It’s Showtime hosts, Vice Ganda’s team was declared as the grand champion for Magpasikat 2019. Meanwhile, the prize amounting to one million pesos will be donated to their chosen charity.
