Cristine Reyes Emotionally Opened Up About the Previous Breakup With Husband Ali Khatibi

Many Filipino viewers have surely been impressed or perhaps enraged by watching the 30-year-old Kapamilya actress Cristine Reyes, who is currently playing the “Kontrabida” role of Katrina De Leon-Salvador in the morning drama series, Nang Ngumiti ang Langit.

While the actress gave her best shot to portray the strong character in this Kapamilya TV series, many were surprised after seeing a very emotional Cristine Reyes in her recent guesting with the late-night talk show “Tonight With Boy Abunda”. The celebrity mom was there to promote her upcoming movie with Xian Lim entitled ‘Untrue.’

After providing some basic information about the said film, the King of Talk asked Cristine about to share more about the film’s concept, “Ang tema ng pelikula is ‘not all love is true,’ paliwanag mo nga.”

To which she answered: “Basing on the film, yes. Well, number one kapag nag-start ang pagmamahalan sa kasinungalingan dahil ayaw natin na masira tayo sa taong gusto natin, itatago natin yun mga bagay na alam natin na ikakasira natin sa kanya.

“Ibig sabihin, mahal mo, mas mahal mo sarili mo kesa dun sa tao kasi mas pinili mo na pagtakpan yung kasinungalingan na yun kesa maging tapat ka dun sa taong mahal mo. Dahil ang totoong taong nagmamahal, dapat tapat ka.”

After hearing that from Cristine, Tito Boy made a follow-up question relating to her own experience that goes the same as the theme of the movie. She admitted that she already experienced it many times.

“Marami na. Marami na akong na-encounter na nag-sinungaling. Iba’t ibang rason, Tito Boy,” Cristine explained.

Another question was thrown to her by the famous host if she considers lying as a form of betrayal, which she answered, “Yes. Dapat ano, dun pa rin ako sa honesty. Mahirap pagkatiwalaan ang taong nagsisinungaling.”

The actress became very emotional after this and eventually broke down in tears. The King of Talk changed the topic by asking about her daughter Amarah, which Cristine shared that whenever she’s crying, she tried to hide it from her 4-year-old daughter as she wants Amarah to see her as someone who can stand up and protect her.

It will be recalled that rumors and speculations started in April last year that there could be trouble in Christine Reyes and Ali Khatibi’s marriage after the actress reportedly unfollowed her husband on his Instagram account.

But after months of being silent about the real status of her marriage with mixed martial artist Ali Khatibi, Cristine finally decided to clear things up on their relationship.

“We’re civil. We’re in good terms, especially with things we have to do when it comes to Amarah.”
