Former “Wowowin” co-host and ex-Sex Bomb dance group member Sugar Mercado recently shared that the trauma she suffered at the hands of her former husband Kristofer Jay Go was the reason she still doesn’t think of having a boyfriend.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH, the 32-year-old former host recently opened up why until now she doesn’t want to be involved in a romantic relationship, even if her marriage has already been annulled for nearly three years.
“Wala, eh. Nakaka-trauma,” she said.
However, she also added that she’s not closing her door if God will give her someone who’s willing to accept her children, “Oo, na-trauma ang beauty ko. Pero alam mo yon, if may someone na ibibigay akin si God, na mamahalin yung mga anak ko, why not?”
It will be recalled that Sugar previously filed a case to her former husband for marital abuse, but in the end, it just leads to an amicable settlement.
The doting mom of two explained that she’s not really rushing when it comes to her love life since her top priority is her kids.
“Ayaw ko pa kasi yung kids ko, kasi nga di ba, parang kulang ako ng oras sa kanila, eh. Meron akong 4 (years old) at 6 don sa ex ko,” she explained
“Ang babae nakakatiis yan. Totoo. Okey lang, kaya ko kahit wala. Mas malakas ang control ng babae, eh. Basta ang mahalaga sa akin yung mga bata,” the former Wowowin host added.
When asked about how the things are going on between her and former husband, Sugar replied.
“Okey naman kami… okey kami. Sobrang dami kong pinagdaanan. Pero dahil sa prayers, saka sa time, naghe-heal yan.
“Ang sakit sobra, pero di ba, si Lord nandyan lang naman, ginagabayan at talaga namang hindi ako pinabayaan, kami ng pamilya ko,” she added.
She then admitted that her “battered wife” story in the past really left a deep wound in her heart. “Oo. Malalim ang sugat, Pero sabi ko nga, hindi ko sinasara yung doors ko… na pupwede ulit akong ma-in love,” Sugar said.
During the interview, Sugar was also asked if someone is courting her right now, which she jokingly answered:
“Madami. Hahaha! Charot lang. Meron naman, ” followed by a question on her ideal man.
“Ano ba, siguro kapag nakita kong love niya yung mga anak ko, saka ako makakapagdesisyon na, ‘Ah eto yung right person.’ Siyempre, di ba, mahirap yung ano, eh, yung kayo lang, siyempre may mga anak ako na kahit papaano unahin n’ya yon bago ako. Pag hindi, eh, di huwag na. Package dapat,” she declared
Following her resignation from the variety show “Wowowin,” Sugar mentioned in a previous interview that she will be returning to television soon but in a different platform.
Now, the mother of a 6 and a 4-year-old said that if she’s given the opportunity, she is ready and willing to work with ABS-CBN.
“Kahit prosti sa Ang Probinsyano, okey na ako,” she delcared
“Gusto ko namang umarte, marunong din naman akong umarte kaya bigyan n’yo ako ng trabaho,” Sugar added.
