Situated in Pasay City, Ninoy Aquino Airport or also called as NAIA has been dubbed as one of the “worst airports” several times.
According to the news, it is because of poor service, outdated infrastructure, facilities, and bad experiences of the local and foreign passengers.
Being one of the country’s airport frontrunners, many passengers just let it go and accept what NAIA can only offer. But in the succeeding years, the number of passengers in NAIA will be lessened because the biggest airport in the country will be constructed soon.
Three years ago, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) already suggested constructing the New Manila International Airport. This project is expected to span across 2,500 hectares in Bulacan, Bulacan.

Just recently, Department of Transportation said that because there are no other challenger with regard to the Swiss Challenge for the project proposed by SMC, the contract will be awarded to them upon having the airport constructed that has a budget of more than 734 Billion pesos.
“No one bought our bid documents, no one submitted comparative proposals to challenge the original proponent, which is San Miguel. This means we will award the project to San Miguel,” according to Giovanni Lopez of DOTr.
It is expected that the said airport will have at least four up to 6 runways. It also has the capacity to accept 100 million passengers every year.
Moreover, SMC stated that we could also expect from this airport that it can bring “trillion dollars” to the country’s economy, 35 million tourists, at more than 30 million jobs are up for grabs for people who live in Bulacan and nearby provinces.
“It will provide more and better livelihood opportunities, not to take them away, ensure environmental balance and enhance resilience against calamities, because it’s the right thing to do,” according to SMC president and COO Ramon Ang.

And because the project was already approved, SMC already shared some of the photos showing the possible design studies of the airport. It can be seen in the design that it will be spacious and will have “state-of-the-art” facilities that is truly amazing and brings you excitement to witness it fully erected.
SMC also said that the infrastructure of the terminal would have “energy-efficiency”. The walls and part of the ceiling will be made out of glass so that natural light will come inside the airport.
At present, SMC is just waiting for the “Notice of Award” from the government before they start constructing the airport. It is expected that the construction of the said project will begin in the last quarter of this year.
“We envision a brighter future for everyone, but we know what’s worth achieving isn’t necessarily easy. We will face rough waters along the way, that’s why we need everybody’s help and support to make this dream a reality,” stated by Ang.
