Couple’s 60th Anniversary Celebration That Includes Sweet Wedding-Themed Photoshoot Went Viral

This sweet couple from South Carolina recently went viral after photos of their 60th wedding anniversary was shared on social media.

After 60 years of being married, George and Vivian “Ginger” Brown has proven that they are still very much in love with each other, and to mark this milestone, their family arranged a wedding-themed photo shoot.

The couple became social media’s latest darlings after their granddaughter, Abigail Lydick, who now owns “Abigail Gingerale Photography” gifted her grandparents with a photoshoot.

George and Ginger met at a New Jersey diner on June 2, 1958. The place was packed at the time that’s why a waitressed asked Ginger and a female friend if they could be seated together in a table with two other diners who turned out to be George and a coworker. That day, they barely spoke to one another and simply enjoying their respective meals.

A couple of months later, the two met again at a traffic stop, where George honked at Ginger and waved from the car right next to her. When she turned her head, Ginger couldn’t even recall his name but she recognized him from the restaurant, and his smile lingered in her mind.

The two once again met after a month later when Ginger was out at the fair with friends. Her brother then introduced George to her, who turned out to be former schoolmates. Later that week, George visited their home and hang out with her brother and sister-in-law. They asked her to join them to a late night dinner – and the rest was history, as they say.

On June 6, 1959, the two got married almost exactly one year after they first met.

Fast forward today, the couple is still very much in love and enjoying life together with their 4 kids, 18 grandkids, and 19 great-grandkids.

To celebrate their special day, one of their 18 grandchildren, Abigail, planned a surprise photo shoot for them when she learned that they’re going to visit her and other relatives in Allentown, New Jersey.

Abigail then took the couple’s original wedding photos taken six decades ago and sent a copy to a bridal boutique in Hamilton to help find something that looked similar for her grandmother to wear in the photoshoot. Through the help of the suppliers that she regularly works with, Abigail got a beautiful bouquet for her grandmother and have her Grandma Ginger’s hair and makeup done professionally.

The whole family worked to pull the details together, including Abigail’s husband, Andy, who helped with Grandpa George’s wardrobe.

Abigail said that she felt so lucky to have witnessed this much love between her grandparents and they spent the day having fun in the photoshoot.

“Our goal with photography with anyone is to be able to have real human interaction and show off the love they have between them, which is exactly what they did. Being there to witness them cracking jokes with each other and holding each other was even more special as their granddaughter,” Abigail said.

When she asked them what made their marriage successful and their secret to a long-lasting relationship, her grandfather shared that both should “put in 100% instead of both putting in just 50%”.

“Marriage is such hard work and just because you go through something really hard doesn’t taint it. It makes you stronger, and you’re still able to celebrate all those good things,” he added.

The photoshoot turned out beautifully and the happy couple looks as if they could’ve just gotten married.
