Former Teen Actress Angeli Gonzales Shares Her Fulfilling Medical School Journey

Angeli Gonzales Kaye Angeli H. Gonzales, also known as Angeli Gonzales traded her life in the showbiz industry to pursue her dreams of becoming a doctor.

Angeli was famously known for her role as April Muñoz in the now defunct teen comedy series “LUV U” alongside with Miles Ocampo, Marco Gumabao, and Sharlene San Pedro and other celebrity teens.

Recently, the former teen actress marked a big milestone after graduating from medical school at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in Cavite. She is also a registered medical technologist and Medical Laboratory Scientist certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology International.

Angeli Gonzales proudly shared a lengthy post on social media about her fulfilling medical school journey. She also included her graduation photos.

The former teen actress said that she would often receive questions like “Bakit nag-doctor ka pa, e artista ka na?” To which sometimes she wanted to answer that becoming an actress is difficult as well.

According to her, if there is someone who was deserving of the credit for her educational achievement, it’s none other than her parents because they handled everything and placed the utmost importance on her education over her career in showbiz.

“I didn’t have a lot of teleseryes or movies because they only scheduled tapings and shoots during the weekends,” she recalled.

Aside from “LUV U”, Angeli also played a handful of roles in shows and teleseryes such as “Magandang Tanghali Bayan”, “Home Along Da Riles”, “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, and romantic comedy-series “Got To Believe”.

“The cast and the production of every show I worked with understood that I had dreams outside of showbiz at lahat talaga sila inintindi kapag kailangan late calltime ko kasi may pasok ako or kapag kailangan early pack-up ako kasi may exams ako the next day,” Angeli added.

The former teen actress said that her stint as an actress taught her a lot of lessons in life and helped her finance her studies in med school.

Angeli shared, “My stint in showbiz taught me how to be confident, to be strong, and to be independent. All the experiences I had as an actress made me strong – strong enough to hold back tears, smile, and be the rock when my patients need me to be. Thank you din kasi afford ko mag-Med dahil sa pinasweldo ninyo sa ‘kin. Hahaha.”

Although she understands that becoming a doctor and being an actress are equally draining and difficult, she explained that there is something from this job that made her stay and pursue med school.

“The harder the experience, the more it humbled me. This is my “why”. Cliché, pero ‘yun ang totoo. Kaya ako nag-doctor para sa mga pasyente ko. I wanted to become a doctor for my future patients. And I consider myself lucky because I am able to pursue a dream that may be key for other people to be able to pursue their own,” she said.
