Independence Day is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12. This day is one of the most significant dates in our history because it marks the nation’s independence from the Spanish rule.

In the recent celebration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day, Filipinos all over the world erupted in cheers as the world’s tallest building and the Dubai Festival City Mall lit up with some of the Philippine icons in history, culture, and tradition that made us all feel proud to be a Filipino.

On Facebook, a netizen named Virgie Romuar shared photos of the 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa glowed blue, red and white, the colors of the Philippine flag, accentuated by three stars and the sun, while the Dubai Festival City Mall displayed the images of reigning Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, boxing legend turned senator Manny Pacquiao and places and culture of the Philippines

“First time in the history of UAE! Philippine flag in Burj Khalifa & Dubai Festival City!!” says the post.

The netizen said in the post that this was the first time in the history of UAE to feature this event. That’s why many Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) traveled to Dubai just to witness the brief light show on the iconic tower.

“Yung naririnig mong nagsisigawan yung mga kabayan mo?Ramdam mo ang pinas!!!!,” she added.

She also added that she can really hear loud screams of happiness from all the Filipinos in Dubai who were very overwhelmed because of this recognition.
