They started as college roommates at West Visayas State University College of Nursing (WVSU CON) for several years — and it appears that they might be so in tune with each others company that now this group of best friends was among these years nursing board exams topnotcher.
Almira Louise Olete Hinsoy clinch the first spot, Dennise Kim Marie Bulquiren Luig, ranked second and the seventh spot was taken by Thomas Benroe Tallodar Supeña who were all graduates of West Visayas State University College of Nursing in La Paz, Iloilo City.

The three were also best of friends, Almira and Dennise bonded over lipstick, makeup, milk tea, and calligraphy, with Supeña becoming a close buddy on their fourth-year class.

They all shared many fun stuff together through their bonding over lessons and must also have shared the same study habits throughout their college years. As a matter of fact, all of them graduated cum laude from their course, BS nursing.

Right after their graduation, they enrolled together in review lessons and joined their other batchmates at WVSU CON. They all feel the pressure because their college has registered a 100% passing rate every year except in 2017 when the rate slipped to 99%.
When the results of the 2019 Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) were released, Almira, Dennise, and Thomas not only passed the board exams, they also made it to the top 10.
Meanwhile, the three could not help but recall the hardships they had encountered before they achieved their milestones.
“It was sometimes difficult to wake up every day at 6 a.m. and even 3 a.m., to prepare for our daily reviews. But we were each other’s cheerleader and alarm clock,” Dennise said.
“The days of review were hectic. We needed to be at school earlier than the usual 8 a.m. class … Some of us would go to school at 2 a.m. and wait for the school gate to open just so we could get front seats,” Almira recounted.
For this year’s Nurse Licensure Examination, more than half, or 5,059 examinees, passed out of 9,691 takers. While WVSU CON still got a 100% passing rate and 12 topnotchers.
