Japanese Guy Creates ‘Marry Me’ GPS Art Using Google Earth To Propose To His Girlfriend

Asking for your girlfriend’s hand in marriage is one of the biggest moments of your life, that’s why a lot of men want their marriage proposal to be unique, memorable and romantic.

That is also the reason why this Japanese guy did something unbelievable and went literally the extra mile to ask his girlfriend to marry him.

Yasushi “Yassan” Takahashi proposed to his girlfriend Natsuki by spelling out a huge ‘Marry Me’ on Google Earth and GPS across the map of Japan.

He used the mapping tool Google Earth and Global Positioning System (GPS) device to follow a predetermined route to create a large-scale text on a map.

11 years ago, Yassan, who is a resident of Tokyo realized that his girlfriend, Natsuki is the one for him. He wanted to propose to her, that’s why he started his longer-than-life wedding proposal journey by working on a GPS art using Google Earth in 2008.

While his only plan was to tell her girlfriend about his intention to marry her, Yassan also ended up creating a Guinness World Record for the largest GPS drawing in history.

It took him six months to travel almost across Japan just to draw ‘Marry Me’ with a heart next to it.

To complete this grand plan, he even quit his job and planned a journey from the island of Hokkaido to the shores of Kagoshima. He covered a distance of 4,451 miles and went through all kinds of nature’s obstacles like earthquakes, rains and many more.

After a decade of meticulous calculations, traveling and planning, Yassan decided to incorporate the art into his proposal.

Recently, Google tweeted out a video of Yassan and highlighted his amazing journey, which is currently going viral across the social media platform.

As of writing, the video has been viewed over 40k times and received tons of comments from social media users.
