Female Teacher Who Sews ‘Comfy’ Padded Seat Covers For Her Students Armchairs, Earned Praise From Netizens

In preparation for the resumption of classes by June, public schools nationwide have been so busy for their weeklong “Brigada Eskwela.”

Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) which aims to provide students with well-maintained learning tools and facilities, to encourage them to study hard and persevere. This is done through the help of parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public schools.

But this female teacher from Tarlac has her own special way of welcoming her upcoming students this school year. To make her students feel comfortable, Teacher Merlita Geronimo Narne decides to make padded seat covers for her classroom’s armchairs.

Meanwhile, many netizens lauded the kind-hearted teacher for serving as an inspiration to her fellow teachers to also consider the benefits of their students as they strive to learn inside the classroom.

One netizen commented on the post saying, “Comfortable na ang mga students kasi hindi na matigas upuan nila. God bless sa iyo ma’am.”

Another netizen even jested that if he’s going to be one of Teacher Merlita’s student, then he will never be absent in her class since the chairs in her classroom were more comfortable than the ones in their home.
