This 6-year-old boy’s attempt to save a neighbours chick has won the Internet because of his innocence and sympathy.
The young boy named Derek C Lalchhanhima, who hails from Sairang, Mizoram in India was reported sobbing at the hospital when he rushed his neighbours’ chick that he accidentally ran over with his bicycle.
In a report by Inquirer, Facebook user Sanga Says shared a post last April 2, detailing the effort of the innocent child, who desperately wants to save the life of a poor chick.
Sanga also uploaded the photo of the teary-eyed boy holding the chick in one hand and a 10-rupee note (about Php7) in other hands, instantly gained attention and touched the hearts of the netizens all over the world.
“This young boy from Sairang, Mizoram, accidentally ran over his neighbor’s chicken. He took the chicken, ran to a nearby hospital and with all the money he had, asked for help,” says the post.
According to Derek’s father, the young boy returned to their home and begged them to take their neighbours chick to the hospital. However, he asked him to go by himself. Derek left with the chick and a 10-rupee note in his hand.
The young boy returned home upset and crying because no one helped him at the hospital, instead, the medical staff took a photo of him. Derek tried to go back, this time with more money. But his parents finally had to explain to him that there’s nothing they can do at the hospital to revive the lifeless chick.
Derek’s father was surprised at his son’s reaction and did not expect the child to gain widespread attention on social media, although he knew that his son has “always been a rather unique kid.”
As of this writing, the viral post has received more than 130,000 reactions and 89,000 shares on Facebook.
Meanwhile, many netizens expressed their admiration for Derek’s pure intention and kindness that made the world realize about the true value and the importance of life.
