Actress Judy Ann Santos embraced motherhood when she adopted her eldest daughter Yohan, who is now 14 years old.
The actress adopted Yohan during the peak of her career and a woman having a budding romance with her then Krystala co-actor Ryan Agoncillo in 2004.
After a year, the two admitted being in a relationship and were eventually married. They tied the knot at San Juan de Nepomuceno Church in San Juan, Batangas on April 28, 2009.
When the actress became an Agoncillo, so did Yohan.
In 2015, she said in an interview on Kris TV that she doesn’t have plans to get married back then, “Dati nga wala akong plano mag-asawa, baby lang!”
Juday revealed that she really wanted to have a daughter at the age of 26, that’s why she adopted Yohan.
Recently, the 40-year-old actress shared how she tried to carefully explain to her daughter Yohan that she was adopted.
In a recent interview with PEP, Juday shared that she tried to explain to her daughter what adoption means when she was around 4 to 5 years old.
“Dati kasi ano siya, e, sumasama loob niya, naba-bother siya. Nalulungkot siya kaya sinasabi ko sa kanya, ‘Sweetheart, it was my choice.”
“I know naman at some point, I could still have a child. It’s just that I so wanted to have a child, and I prayed. I prayed for years to have a baby girl. I’m very specific with my prayers. I want to have a baby girl at 26. And I got a call a week after I turned 26, “ the actress added.
“And it was a baby girl, so that was you. ‘Even before I had a family, it was you and me only,’” Juday continued.
After explaining everything to Yohan, she started becoming more confident.
“She’s not ashamed of being an adopted daughter,” Juday said.
The mom of three explained that she and her husband Ryan were very open in discussing with their eldest daughter what adoption means.
“Kasi we’re very vocal naman kami ni Ry in explaining to her that adoption isn’t a bad word. ‘It’s not a bad thing at all. You have an inspiring story,” the actress shared.
