More than a decade ago, Mary Grams lost her engagement ring while she was working in her garden.
The ring was given by her husband, Norman in 1951– a year before they get married.
She knew that she must have dropped it in the garden, so she tried to search for the precious ring, sifting and scouring the soil in hope for a glimpse of her ring.
But after several days of searching, she didn’t find the missing ring and gave up all hope of ever finding it again. Mary has decided not to tell his husband about what happened.
“I didn’t tell him because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something,” Mary said.
Mary was afraid that her husband might be disappointed with her careless act, that’s why she bought a replacement ring and hoped that her husband would not notice about it.
She wore this ring for 8 years until her husband passed away in 2012. For nearly a decade, Mary’s husband never noticed that what she’s wearing was only a replacement of the engagement ring he had given her.
She never thought that she’ll find it again after 13 years.
It was her daughter-in-law, Colleen, who found it when she went to the family garden to pick some fresh vegetables for dinner and noticed that one carrot looked unbelievably strange.
After washing the carrots, she was surprised to find out that it was a ring that was wrapped around the carrot.
Colleen immediately showed it to her husband, Brian and asked him about the ring, “Do you know anything about this?”
Brian recalled that her mother had lost her engagement in the garden years ago, but never found it,
“I think I do. Mom lost (a ring) quite a few years ago,” he replied.
He then called his mother to tell her the good news.
