Recently, Taiwan was hit by a 6.1-magnitude earthquake which shook the buildings and stalled the subway services temporarily in the capital Taipei.
According to the report, the earthquake happened last April 18, is the largest one to hit the island this year. There were also reported injuries, but many are still thankful that more lives remained safe.
Following the tragedy, video footage taken in a birthing home went viral after a group of nurses puts their lives at risk attempting to protect newborn babies in the said facility.
The video showed how the three nurses rushed to the newborn babies in the nursery room as the earthquake took place. The nurses can be seen picking some up or using their bodies as shields over the cots just in case the ceiling might fall on them while the building continues shaking.
Instead of running out to save themselves, the brave nurses chose to stay and comfort the babies who were disturbed by the strong shake of the building.
The facility can be seen shaking badly as several newborn baby cribs began to shake and roll around the room. Two of the nurses immediately picked up and cuddled the babies that were crying as they were disturbed by the sudden shaking, while another one quickly grabbed the cots near to her to prevent the babies from rolling around the facility.
The brave nurses never left them alone to fend for themselves and made sure that all of them are safe. They even tried to use their bodies to protect the newborn babies in case of any falling debris from the roof.
In this time of danger, these nursery nurses seem to clearly understand that it was their duty to protect these helpless babies who, obviously, could not get out of the building by themselves.
Thankfully, none of the newborn babies and the nursery nurses were hurt during the earthquake.
When the footage went viral, a lot of netizens praised the nursery nurses for their selfless and noble act, while others dubbed them as “angels” and “heroes.”
