Chokoleit, whose real name was Jonathan Aguilar Garcia, brought laughter to his audience in Abra last March 9. However, after his performance, he brought tears to many of his friends and loved ones.
Last Saturday night, Chokoleit was rushed to a nearby hospital but the comedian did not make it.
The entire showbiz industry and netizens alike were deeply saddened by the untimely demise of one of today’s best comedians. Chokoleit’s closest friends in the entertainment industry such as Vice Ganda, K Brosas, Pokwang, and Pooh were the first to pay respect at his funeral in Antipolo City, Rizal.
Chokoleit’s passing has affected many celebrities, including his fellow comedian Pooh, who is definitely in deep agony and devastation upon losing a friend and a family.
In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, Pooh revealed that he had a difficult time accepting the fact that Chokoleit is gone. He also wishes that his dear friend is still alive and just fooling everyone around with a “joke” that he passed away.
He described Chokoleit as someone who always made the people around him laugh and who only showed his serious side if he already consider you as a friend.
Pooh shared: “Napaka-baliw niyang kasama. Baliw in a way na papatawanin niya palagi.
“Tapos iyong serious side niya ipinapakita niya sa iyo kapag talagang kaibigan ka na niya,” he added.
When asked about what he felt over his friend’s passing:
“Para siyang joke, para kaming nag-show lang tapos para siyang nagbibiro. Wala na kasi ibang Chokoleit eh, isa lang.
Based on the report, Chokoleit succumbed to pulmonary edema and heart attack, according to his attending physician Dr. Rosauro Seares.
Pulmonary edema is a condition caused by excess fluid in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. It may lead to fatal respiratory distress or cardiac arrest due to hypoxia, especially acute.
