Viral on Facebook at the moment is a video posted by Filipino pilot Genesis Bernardo, paying tribute to his parents last Sunday, March 10.
The pilot took the gesture to new heights – literally, through a heart-warming message during a flight to Taipei, Taiwan, where his parents, Paul and Solly were on board.
The video was filmed by his brother, Joshua Bernardo. It can be seen that his parents were casually browsing through the in-flight catalog when he made his announcement. Then a video of Captain Genesis from the cockpit is then inserted so that viewers can see what’s happening from both perspectives.
While listening to the standard greeting, introductions, and flight details, the parents were already visibly amused to hear their own son’s voice.
He can be heard saying,
“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, from the flight deck, this is Genesis Bernardo, your Captain speaking.”
But the proud parents were surprised when he started to greet them,
“And I would like to take this opportunity to welcome two very important persons in my life, Mr. Paul Bernardo and Mrs. Solly Bernardo, my Dad and my Mom,” he added.
Captain Genesis’ parents’ reactions can be seen shifting from a look of surprise to a feeling of pride as he shared how much he values and appreciates them for believing in his dream of being a pilot.
“I would like to thank you for loving me unconditionally as your son, and for teaching me to do my best in everything that I do. I also thank you for inspiring me to never stop dreaming big. And making me believe that everything is possible as long as you have faith,” Genesis continued.
The proud son also credited his parents as his inspiration to become a pilot. He said, “You are one of the biggest reasons why I am here commanding a flight and flying this airplane.”
“It’s truly an honor and my pleasure to have you on board. I’m so proud of you for bringing me where I am right now. And I also hope (to) make you proud,” he quipped.
As of this writing, the viral post has reached more than 76,000 reactions and 36,000 shares on Facebook.
