It’s been 18 years since the popular Taiwanese drama series Meteor Garden, conquered the Philippine Television and becomes a big hit in the country, which was aired on ABS-CBN.
Meteor Garden is a 2001 Taiwanese drama starring Barbie Shu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Vanness Wu and Ken Chu and is based on the Japanese manga series Hana Yori Dango.
The story revolved around four popular, rich friends collectively known as the F4, and a new student at the university, Shan Cai, who comes from a poor family, but stands up to them and refuses to be bullied. Shan Cai’s persistence in standing up for what is right gradually gains the F4’s respect and Dao Ming Si starts to fall for her.
The iconic role of Dao Ming Si played by the Taiwanese Star Jerry Yan captivates the hearts and attention of many people. As a matter of fact, he had a big fan base in the Philippines and made countless women swoon in his breakout role when the show was aired here in 2003.
After Meteor Garden, Jerry Yan or also known as Liao Yang Zhen went on to star in a number of well-received dramas such as The Hospital, Starlit and Down With Love. He also built a substantial music career, with three successful albums.
Fast forward today, the 42-year-old Taiwanese star looks like he hasn’t aged a day.
