Manny Pacquiao Reveals he’s Currently Finishing College Degree to Better Understand our Country’s Problem

Senator Manny Pacquiao is also in favor to make it a requirement for those who are running for the senatorial and presidential seat to have a college degree.

In addition, he also revealed during a recent interview on ANC that he is currently finishing a college degree to better understand our country’s problem.



Manny Pacquiao said:

“Yes, nag-aaral ako. The most important thing is alam mo ‘yung sitwasyon ng problema ng bansa natin.”

Although, the 40-year-old lawmaker did not disclosed the details of the school and the degree he’s taking, he gives a hint saying that, “Malapit na.” [Soon] He added, “Tinatapos ko ang college ko, dito lang sa Maynila.” [I’m finishing my college course, just here in Manila.]

Manny also shared that he is currently finishing a, “PowerPoint presentation on economics.”

When asked if pursuing a degree is in preparation for seeking a higher office in the 2022 Presidential election, the Senator said that it’s not yet on his mind.

He also added that seeking a higher office isn’t his focus now as he is thinking of ways to help address our country’s problem such as poverty and high tax rates.

“Sa ngayon hindi ko iniisip ‘yung thing about running [in] 2022. Alam mo ang iniisip ko ang solusyon sa mga problema sa bansa natin,” he said.



As of this moment, Manny said that he enjoys being a senator and at the same time a boxer that gives honor and serves the people.

“Masaya ako bilang senador, gampanan trabaho ko. Nagbibigay ako ng karangalan sa ating bansa. Masaya ako d’yan. ‘Yun ang nasa puso.” [I’m happy as a senator. I give honor to our country. I’m happy. That’s in my heart,] he said

Although Manny wasn’t able to formally finish his education due to his family’s financial problem. He was awarded with a high school diploma by the Department of Education in 2007 when he passed a high school equivalency exam; making him eligible for college education.

Manny Pacquiao then enrolled for a college degree in business management at Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU) in his hometown in General Santos City.

In recognition of his boxing achievements and humanitarian work, Manny was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) by Southwestern University (SWU) at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino in Lahug, Cebu City on February 2009.



To prepare for his career as a lawmaker in the House of the Representative, he enrolled in the Certificate Course in Development, and Governance at the Development Academy of the Philippines – Graduate school of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM).
