Look: Jamaican Lottery Winner Wears ‘Scream’ Mask Upon Claiming His $1.17 Million Jackpot Prize

Some lottery winner wears disguises or keeps their identity concealed due to high levels of crime in their country, and fears that they will be hounded for money by family and friends.

While many lottery winners chose to remain anonymous for some safety reasons, this lottery winner is now going viral for taking that to a whole new level.

The Jamaican lottery winner reportedly turned up to claim his prize worth of $1.17 million, while wearing a mask that looks like the Ghostface character from the 1996 horror film “Scream.”

The jackpot winner made it clear that he wanted to remain anonymous by using only the name A. Campbell.

Based on the report by Daily Mail, Mr. Campbell collected his prize after 54 days of waiting, from his original win in November last year. On top of that, he decided to collect the prize anonymously so he wouldn’t have to share the money with cash-hungry relatives.

The Jamaican lottery winner shared:

“Normally, I would write down the numbers from the [televised] draw, eat and then go and check my numbers,” he said.

He went on and said, “I looked at my ticket [that night] and ran into my bathroom and said: “I won! I won!”

Mr. Campbell also shared where does he plan to use the money and said that he wants to buy a new house.

“I want to get a nice house. I haven’t found it yet, but I’ll be looking for one soon. I like to handle money. I don’t beg, I don’t borrow.”

“So I’m looking at things that can turn over the money. I have a little business, so I plan to make it bigger, buy an apartment. I love to have money.”

Viral photos from the event show him shaking hands with lottery officials and receiving the giant cheque while wearing the iconic mask.
