A physical disability does not stand as a hindrance between a man and his aspirations, the real hindrance is the disability of will and determination.
A disabled person is defined as someone who has a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. But although they may not have the opportunity to live life in the same way that the nondisabled do, these people are also capable of doing great things in their life.
Just recently, the video of this disabled man caught the attention of many netizens and gained praises because of the determination he shows despite his condition.
The video was uploaded on Facebook by Geri Katigbak Tirona-Zamora, with a caption that says:
“Rest if you must but don’t you quit.”
In the video, the one-legged man carries styrofoam that contains ice cream, which he sells under the sun along Commerce Avenue, Ayala Alabang. The man stops only for a while when he needed to rest and continued walking and selling again.
As of this writing, the viral video has reached over 57K reactions and 96K shares on Facebook.
Many netizens admired his determination and even hope to meet the ice cream vendor in person to help.
There are also some netizens who were interested to lend a hand and be a part of a change in manong’s life. In fact, some kind-hearted netizens are now up for a campaign to raise a fund to provide him with a prosthetic leg.
According to some netizens, the ice cream vendor often takes Commerce Avenue as his usual route and oftentimes reach Alabang Town Center. They also claimed that the ice cream vendor is a very kind person based on their interaction with him.
“Ok yan si manong. We were excited nung nakita namin sya sa jollibee around 7pm. Bibili sana kami but he turned us down. Medyo malambot na daw,” a netizen said.
One netizen who happened to get to talk to him personally shared that the ice cream vendor strives to work hard in order to provide for his daughter’s needs because his wife left them a few years ago.
