The Lawrie family never had a baby girl born in their family since 1809, but after 200 years of waiting for this female baby was born and break the chain of having only male babies into the Lawrie family.
It was in October 2014 when Myla Lawrie was born and she has been the first baby girl born in the Lawrie family after 200 years.
The proud parents Hannah, a 26-year-old midwife and Mark Lawrie, a 33-year-old professional golfer turned coach has never thought that such day would come as Mark’s family had never seen girls born in the family for five generations.
As a matter of fact, the last time his family had a baby girl was when Mark’s great-great Aunt Bessie was born in the same year as Charles Darwin, Abraham Lincoln and Edgar Allan Poe in 1809.
In an article by Daily Mail, Hannah shared that her husband Mark warned him that they would more likely to get sons than daughters after they got married.
“When Mark and I first got together, he told me how everyone in his family, for five generations, had produced boys,” she explained
“He warned me that the chances of us ever having a daughter were pretty remote,” she added.
Mark already has two other sons, 14-year-old Ben and 11-year-old Zac from his previous relationship.
That is why when Hannah got pregnant with their first child in 2011, no one was surprised when Mason, a boy, who is now seven years old was born.
For the second time, Hannah got pregnant in 2014, but this time the 200-year spell has came to an end.
Surprisingly, the doctors told the couple that they were expecting a baby girl based on a 20-week scan. Upon hearing the great news, the couple couldn’t believe that their desire for a daughter was really about to come true.
“I was in a state of disbelief. I kept asking the sonographer if she was sure,” Hannah recalled.
“Mark was so emotional he was in tears, crying that it was a gift from his Dad who, sadly, passed away just before I fell pregnant. He’d told us he’d love a granddaughter,” she added.
When little Baby Myla was born, they treated her like a princess and she has an amazing wardrobe to prove it. In her closet, Myla has dozens of flowery dresses, patterned tights, butterfly hair clips, frilly tutus, and pink fluffy slippers.
But that’s not all, of course, with three big brothers to look after her, Myla now does not have to worry about anything as she always got their back to protect her.
The happy mom is now looking forward to the days when she is able to enjoy going on a shopping trip with her daughter, while the boys go off to play 18 holes golf with their father.
