Check out Abra’s Latest Tourist Attraction, Layugan Garden ‘10,000 Tulips’

The Philippines is home to many of the world’s famous tourist attractions. As matter of fact, the country is known for having 7, 107 islands, warm people, natural wonders, and filled with pleasant discoveries.

Tourism is also an important sector of the Philippine economy, that’s why tourism offices across the country are trying their best to come with great tourist attractions to entice tourists to visit their city or town.

Just like the newly opened attraction in the small town of Bucay, Abra, that resembles the beauty of the tulip garden in Holland.

This beautiful Layugan Garden is owned by the former town mayor, Victorino Barona Jr.

It was opened to the public last January and has now become a popular spot for couples and photo shoots. The tulip garden instantly caught the attention of many netizens because of its Instagram-worthy photos.

But these beautiful tulips planted all over the place are actually LED flowers and not a real flower. Tulips only grow in countries with cold climates and are quite popular in the Netherlands, but Filipinos can now enjoy taking photos with this tulip garden in Abra.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, head of Bucay Tourism Office, Roger Bernal revealed that the town’s former mayor Victorino Barona got the idea of building a tulip garden when he visited the 10,000 Roses Cafe in Cebu, a tourist destination planted with 10,000 LED roses that light up at night.

“Nag-come up lang sa paglalakbay ni mayor. Nagpunta siya ng Cebu, nagpunta siya ng Davao, nag-research siya kung saan io-order,” Roger said.

But Mayor Barona didn’t want to copy the said attraction in Cebu, so he chose the tulips instead.

“Para ‘di ma-duplicate ‘yong 10,000 Roses, tulips naman ‘yong in-order niya,” he added.

The officer-in-charge in the garden, Jojo Tipon, added that the attraction was created so that visitors in Abra, will find a new place to visit in the area.

“Para naman may ibang bisitahin dito sa Abra,” Jojo said.

He even suggested tourists to visit the garden at night when the LED tulips light up and show clearer, better colors.

The Layugan Garden is open daily from 9AM to 9PM, giving everyone enough time to visit this fantastic place. There’s an entrance fee of only at Php20 for daytime and Php30 at night.
