Teacher from Laguna Draws Portraits of All Her 27 Students as Christmas Gifts

Teaching is, no doubt, one of the oldest and noblest services to the society in any culture. It may even be considered heroism. Teaching not only shows the right path that the students should follow but also has the potential to have a great impact on the molding of the next generation.

If you bear the passion for teaching, learning, and sharing your knowledge with today’s youth, intending to make a difference in a child’s life, then this profession is for you.

A teacher from the Holy Redeemer School of Cabuyao in Banlic, Cabuyao, has recently gone viral after giving her students a more personalized gift this past holiday season.

Roselyn Barcoma, a teacher for 16 years now, shared on a Facebook post how she drew all 27 portraits of her Grade 9 students from her advisory class under the section “Descartes”. She said it was her way of encouraging them to reach their potentials.

“I wanted to give them something special. That way, they will be inspired to study harder,” she wrote.

Barcoma began working on the portraits last December 1, 2018, and it took her more than a month to complete all of the drawings. The results are undeniably great works of art and her students were left speechless upon seeing their presents but were amazed and thankful at the same time for the portraits.

When asked for a message to her fellow teachers, Roselyn answered she believes that giving something extra will always be appreciated and never forgotten. “To my fellow teachers, our work may be tiring, but being able to inspire young minds is a priceless opportunity,” she said.

A lot of netizens commended teacher Roselyn for her artistic efforts in making the holiday season extra special for her students. Many were also inspired by her passion and dedication to teaching.
