Look: This Honest Filipino Driver Returns a Lost Bag Containing 2 million cash

But in this world that is full of temptations, honesty is not an easy virtue. In fact, it often takes a lot of effort to live an honest life.

That’s why you will also be amazed by this humble story of a motor cab driver from the Philippines.

This honest driver named Dennis Gaverola recently made headlines after returning a bag to his passenger that contains PHP 2 million or approximately US$38,000.

As a motor cab driver, Dennis was said to have an income which is below the minimum wage. In a rare moment like that, other people might be tempted to keep the money for themselves, but the motor cab driver did what is right – to return the money to the rightful owner. That’s why many netizens admire him so much for his action.

His honesty was shared on social media and immediately went viral and garnered praises from netizens all around the country.

The story happened in a small municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines called Sogod.

According to a report, Dennis “found the bag left in his vehicle,” he was shocked to find out that the bag contained a huge amount of cash. After that, he immediately takes action and he tried to look for his passenger. Unfortunately, he was unable to find the bag’s owner that’s why he has decided to bring the bag to the local authorities instead.

Shortly thereafter, the owner of the bag was found and his valuables and money were returned with their help.



Meanwhile, the municipality’s mayor, Hon. Imelda Tan, could not help but share on her official social media account about this honest act of Dennis Geverola.

She wrote on Facebook:

“On behalf of the Municipality of Sogod, I would like to commend the motorcab driver, Mr. Dennis Gaverola for returning the bag that was left in his vehicle. The bag contained 2 million pesos in cash and other important documents. May God bless you!”

Dennis Geverola is just one of the many faces of honesty and we all hope that his story will serve as an inspiration to all Filipinos, most especially to those who serve us in the government.
