When she was just 6, Thylane Blondeau hit headlines across the globe as she was crowned the “most beautiful girl in the world”. A decade later, she has won the title again at the age of 17.
The gorgeous teen, who is the daughter of French soccer player Patrick Blondeau and actress turned fashion designer Veronika Loubry, took the top spot on TC Candler’s annual awards list. The results were announced in a video, The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2018. It has racked up two million views in just two days.
It prides itself on being one of the most diverse beauty awards out there, with American-Filipino actress Liza Soberano coming fourth this year, Israeli model Yael Shelbia third and Taiwanese singer Chou Tzu-yu getting runner-up. Past winners of the award include Michelle Pfeiffer, Meg Ryan, Siohue Marcaeu, Nicole Kidman, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Blondeau took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support, writing: “I just can’t believe it myself…thanks so much @tccandler and everyone who voted. I never thought I was once number one!! I’m thankful to all of you – really hope you’re having great holidays and spend a nice Christmas with your family…all the best to all of you guys lots of love.”
Thylane began modeling at the age of 4 when she walked the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier. Photos showing off her piercing blue eyes and blond hair captivated people around the world. At the age of 10, she became the youngest model ever to pose for Vogue Paris, although the shoot was criticized at the time for being too “sexualized” because she wore short dresses and heavy makeup.
She is now a brand ambassador for L’Oreal and recently modeled Dolce & Gabbana’s SS18 collection at Milan Fashion Week.
Blondeau signed with the internationally renowned IMG Models when she was 15 and has also modeled for Tommy Hilfiger. She was also the face of the spring/summer 2018 campaign of well-known French brand Juicy Couture. She also launched her own fashion line, Heaven May, this year.
