Filipino Jollibee Service Crew In Qatar Went Viral For Helping An Old Man To Eat His Meal

These past months we have witnessed a series of wonderful events that will really make us “Proud to be Pinoy!”

No matter what field of work they might be doing, Filipinos are known here and abroad for being excellent workers. Aside from that, we are also known as a great, loving, kind and compassionate person. In fact, many Filipinos have proven through their actions that there are still a lot of good Samaritans in this world.

Recently, this service crew of Jollibee-Matar Qadeem branch in Qatar who was known as Russell Manalastas, went viral for going the extra mile for an old customer who could not feed himself.

The video uploader who captured the kind deed and shared it on her Facebook is also an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) working in Doha, Qatar.

According to Marie Grace de Jose, she explained that she was at the Jollibee outlet with her husband when saw the old man come in and sit at a table near where they were eating. She and her husband were enjoying their meal when they saw that several service crews arrived at the old man’s table to bring his food.

But what captured their attention is when one of the service crew prepares the old man’s meal, then proceeded to patiently feed him.

Marie Grace was so impressed by what she saw, that’s why she took some photos and a video to share on her social media account. She also shared that she felt so proud to be Filipino at that very moment as she saw how this Jollibee worker treated this customer.

She wrote on her Facebook post:

“Happening now: Nag dinner kami ng husband ko dito sa Jollibee Qatar sa matar qadeem branch at eto ang nakita ko!! sa ganitong pag kakataon nakaka proud maging pinoy!! kahit saang parte ng mundo the best parin ang pinoy at ang Jollibee!!! bida ang saya!! kudos to you sir Russell Manalastas, service crew of Jollibee-Matar Qadeem branch. #jollibeeqatar #bidaangsaya.”

As of this writing, the post already has 4,400 likes and reactions and 2,400 shares on Facebook, while the video itself already has 251,658 views.

You can see in the video that Russell was patiently cutting the food of the old man because it seems that he was unable to do it by himself. Then, he spoon-fed him the old man and waited for him to finish eating his meal.

What amazed Mary Grace, even more, is that after the old man finished his meal, Russel and other staffs, one presumably the manager, assisted the old man in getting up and going outside, possibly to fetch a cab to bring him home safely.
