OFW from Hong Kong Befriends Stranger at NAIA and Loses Over P300,000 Within Minutes

In spite of strict airport security, it is alarming to learn about thief cases especially involving Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returning from different countries across the globe.

A Facebook user who goes by the name Raoul C. Esperas posted photos and video clips involving an OFW from Hong Kong who lost more than P300,000 inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. The footages show the confrontation between Gemelie Martin, the victim, and Juvy Macalacad Zamora, the culprit, who was from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

The supposedly happy homecoming to Tuguegarao turned the other way around for the Filipina worker after she lost P270,000 and HK$10,000 at NAIA Terminal 3.

According to Facebook user Raoul, Juvy approached Gemelie and befriended her. After a short while, the former then convinced the latter to withdraw all her money from BDO inside the airport via over-the-counter.

According to the victim, she was hypnotized by the woman to do all that. She also narrated that she only went to the comfort room and left her bag containing all her money, passport, and other valuables to the culprit but when she came out, she was nowhere to be found.

As seen on one of the videos, Gemelie yells at and physically hurts Juvy out of anger for what she did to her while the authorities in the room tries to stop the former from hurting the latter more. Meanwhile, Gemelie also found out that Juvy possesses a few passports of other people which means it was not the first time that she did such crime. Juvy could not look straight at the camera.

“Ang ilang taon, tiniis ko na hindi makasama ang pamilya ko!” Gemelie screamed. She then slapped Juvy on her face hard. “Ikaw, kasama mo ang pamilya mo! Ako, ang dami kong hirap!”

While Gemelie was still able to recover P65,000 of her money, she said firmly that she was decided to file a case against Juvy. This is a reminder to everyone to remain vigilant at all times especially when carrying such a huge amount of money.
