It Was the First Time that this Woman Visited Aklan but She was Mistaken for Someone Else, Only to Find Her Long-Lost Twin

We have heard a dozen times of stories of siblings or twins separated at birth or during childhood, only to be reunited as grownups in the end. We have watched this plot several times from movies and TV series and as much as how cliché it is, it all leave us in tears all the same.

What more if it happens in real life? One story recently surfaced on the internet and it touched us how the universe worked its ways to reunite these siblings separated for decades.

Working as a housemaid in Metro Manila, Marissa was brought along by her employers to Aklan to attend the wake of her male employer’s father. It was her first time in the province so she got the surprise of her life when a man who claimed to know her kept asking why she was there. On another note, the man was calling her “Marina” and not by her name “Marissa” which added up to her confusion at the time.

As it turned out, Marissa has a long-lost twin sister named Marina who looks almost just like her. Reportedly, the two were inseparable back in their childhood and did what typical twins would do – wear matching outfits and go to places together.

However, there came a sudden twist of fate for the twins when their father married another woman. And just like how movies portray stepmoms to be, she was ruthless to them, leading Marina to run away from home.

She took her chance in the city and eventually became a housemaid. For decades, the siblings did not see each other again. Marina regretted not telling her sister her plan to run away.

Little did she know, Marissa ran away as well to follow her in the city but unfortunately, the twins never chanced upon each other even after having families of their own.

Time went by and they heard nothing from one another or their other sibling and father left in their hometown.

But the universe found a way for the family to get together once more. The reunion which was made possible by the assistance of the TV show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (One at Heart, Jessica Soho) left the family, the audience, and the netizens in tears.
