Over the years that they have been together, the elderly couple has shared everything, keeping no secrets from each other, or at least that’s what the old man knows. Unsuspectedly, he never touched the shoebox his wife warned him not to open until the day she fell ill. The doctor said her case was hopeless and that she had no chance of recovering.

Despite being devastated by the news, the couple needed to settle important matters before they run out of time and the woman decided it’s time to tell her husband what the contents of the shoebox were. The elderly man then took it out from her closet and brought it to her wife’s bedside.

Upon opening, the man was so shocked to find two crocheted dolls and piles of money with a sum of $95,000. The wife then explained about the contents.

“When we were to be married,” she began, “my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.”

The old man was so touched he had to hold himself back from crying as there were only two dolls in the shoebox. Presumably, his wife had only been mad at him twice over the span of 60 years in their married life. He scooped his wife up out of happiness and gave her a kiss. Thereafter, he asked her:

“But where did the money come from?”

“Oh, that?” She said while smiling gently, “that’s the money I made from selling the dolls.”
