His Father Passed Away 2 Weeks Before His Board Exam, Now He is a Registered CPA

The list of the newly passed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) board examinees was released last October 23, 2018. A total of 3,616 examinees, out of 14,358 takers, passed the October 2018 CPALE. The passing rate is 25.18% for this year.

Dominic Tumaliuan is one of the passers this year. Like others who took the exam, they all have stories behind their success. After seeing the result, Dominic becomes viral because of his long emotional letter dedicated to his late father.
He posted his open letter for his father on Facebook, starting it with this:

“Kumusta ka na kaya? May napakagandang balita ang dumating. Na sana kung naantay mo, siguradong magtatatalon ka na naman sa saya at may maikukwento ka na naman sa mga kaibigan at kamag-anak natin.”

On his post, Dominic reminisced all his wonderful moments together with his father especially during his graduation when he finished the accountancy course. His mother and father were there to celebrate his achievement with him.

Right after his graduation, Dominic transferred to Manila for a couple of months to start reviewing for his upcoming board exams. While staying in Manila, a heart-breaking news reached Dominic, it was regarding his father.

Hurriedly, Dominic took the earliest bus to get home. While inside it, he can still remember the last time his father delivered him to the bus terminal bound to Manila.

“Yung paghatid mo sakin sa terminal papuntang manila, huling hatid mo na pala yun sakin, Pa. Yung pagmiryenda natin sa park nila bunso, huling libre mo na pala yun samin, Pa. Yung soundtrip mong 80’s na paborito mong tugtugin at kantahin sa sasakyan, huling hirit mo na pala yun, Pa. Yung tuwing nagrereview ako, ireremind mo sakin na magpahinga naman ako.”

This milestone of Dominic makes him feel so wrecked-out for his father can’t be with him to attend his oath-taking on PICC.

His father wore the “barong” ahead than they expected, knowing his father was strong. The young CPA was even in denial of what happened but later on, absorbed the reality.

It was very hard for Dominic especially when the exam day came because he can’t get enough of it but a good thing, Dominic used this as inspiration to do his best on the exam and yes, he passed it!

On the last part of his open letter posted on Facebook, he said:
“Pa. I got this. We miss you, PAPA. til’ we meet again.”
