Check out Pokwang’s Modern Four-Storey House in Antipolo

Marietta Subong is the real name of Pokwang, she is a Filipino comedian, actress, television host, and singer. Her career started in a reality show in ABS-CBN and later appeared in dramas and sitcoms of the network.




Pokwang was born on August 27, 1970, in Iloilo City. Her family is originally from Antipolo, Rizal. Her father was a drunkard and her mother had difficulties in raising Pokwang and her 11 other siblings. She was born as the seventh out of 12 children

The actress went to Japan to work as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in 1990. She worked there as a group dancer, she was only able to visit the Philippines four times within the two years of working in Japan.

In 1998, Pokwang also work in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates as a domestic worker. She only in the said country for six months. Her son died while she was still in Abu Dhabi. Her son who was then five years old was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

She insisted to go home after she learned about her son’s health condition, but her employer did not permit her. That’s why Pokwang was forced to finish her contract.

Pokwang is a great Kapamilya actress. She became a host of the variety shows Wowowee, Pilipinas Win na Win and Happy Yipee Yehey.

The actress Pokwang opened the doors of her home. She bought this property in 2010 and moved in a year later.

“Nag-ground-breaking kami ng mga May 2010. Tapos, no’ng mga first week of June, ayan na, kinayod na ‘yan. Ang laki ng batong nakuha nila, e. Ang laki ng backhoe na ginamit,” she relates. Since the place where the house stands is quite hilly, the construction team had to build a retaining wall to ensure the structure of the house as well as the safety of the people living in it.

“Kailangan, e. For safety. Di mo masabi ang nature,” Pokwang adds. A result of her hard work, the house, which has eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

When you open the main door, you will see Pokwang’s huge collection of Swarovski crystals, Chinese figurines, scented candles and colorful gems. Under the built-in ledge, more striking pieces take up space. To name some of the items we spotted are a koi fish figurine, a smiling Buddha, and other fragile knickknacks.




Living Area

The living area is a celebration of warm tones and delightful colors. When the actress moved in, some of the items were in places like the TV and paintings and they only did minor adjustments.

Once the guests get the hang of the house’s high ceiling and spacious floors, their attention will surely to the comfy seating pieces and the striking works of art by Chico Javier. Television was placed under the stairs, with the rest of the entertainment essentials taking up minimal space.

Only a few steps from the living area is the lovely door with a decorative sunburst that shows eight long rays and eight short rays, will surely catch your attention. “Simbolo ‘yan ng pag-asa, kasi light, di ba? Ako nag-suggest no’ng design” says Pokwang. It was basically her idea and was executed by her interior designer’s friend.

Large windows let in natural light and give the owners a beautiful view of Antipolo. Since the house faces east, the natural light will get inside the house.

Meanwhile, an enchanting chandelier with tiny lights livens up the ceiling. The flights of stairs made of wooden steps without risers, and a central.




Dining Area

Yellow hues dominate the dining area is homey and inviting. Moreover, she said that this is a tribute to her good friend Kris Aquino.

It was with eight comfy chairs from home improvement store Eclectic Living, and the lighting piece with teardrop-shaped bulbs helps set the mood and add drama to space.

Kitchen

The comedienne’s favorite area in the house is her kitchen. It is well-equipped with enough storage options, a wall-cabinet system, enough drawers, and top-notch appliances. While the other end of the countertop can function as a breakfast nook together with red barstools.

Powder Room

On the first floor, the powder room can be found. This is the first of eight bathrooms found in the house, exudes a spa-like vibe, with warm lighting and quality fixtures. All over the house, paintings add a posh finishing touch. The relaxing cinnamon-chocolate scent will surely calm anyone who steps into the compact space.

Dino’s Bedroom




This light blue room located on the second floor is for Pokwang’s brother and right-hand man Dino. Aside from the inviting space for sleeping, he also has his own bathroom. This room can be considered as modest yet perfect for a good night’s sleep, with light blue walls, a double bed defined by a cushioned headboard, and there’s a working area also.

Dino’s Bathroom

The well-appointed and Sofitel hotel inspired T&B. It has an enclosed a toilet area, shower area, and a solid countertop with a vessel sink.

Shin’s Bedroom

Built-in honor of the comedienne’s late child Shin, the green room is filled with decorations just like the other rooms in the house. Pokwang made sure to equip it with a TV, an inviting bed, and other personal details. Even if the room has never been used.

Mae’s Bedroom

Undeniably, this pink bedroom is for Pokwang’s daughter Mae. To keep the room from being too overwhelming, the cabinets and wall accents are painted white while dainty prints are subtly incorporated.

Varying shades of the sweet color complete the space, with a lighter shade used on the walls and a darker one for the headboard. The room includes a cabinet with glass doors to showcase Mae’s collection of stuffed toys.




Mae’s Bathroom

The combination of black, pink, and white is so edgy. Mae wanted to achieve a girly yet a little rock-and-roll aesthetic. Unique tiles were used on the walls while black tiles were used for the flooring.

Second Floor Walk-in Closet

Located beside Mae’s bedroom on the second floor is Pokwang’s walk-in closet, this is where she stores her pre-loved outfits, costumes, shoes, and gifts from fans. To keep it organized and neat, it was grouped accordingly, with specific storage for shoes and clothes.

Pokwang’s Bedroom

Pokwang’s room can be likened to a hotel, it is the only room found on the third floor. With its beautiful and modern design, a delicate furnishings and a mix of bright and neutral colors. Dominating the space are shades of brown and cream, with lime green and orange accents. The actress said, that orange is her lucky color.

Glass-doored shelves hold Pokwang’s collection of designer bags, some of which were gifts from her fans. The dresser with cabinets takes up an entire wall in the sleeping space. Displayed also are some her favorite perfumes and other collections.

Walk-in Closet

This room is the storage units for Pokwang’s everyday clothes. There’s a spacious walk-in closet found between the bedroom and bathroom. Similar to a high-end boutique, with a chic chandelier, a tufted seating piece, and huge cabinets.

The actress’s private space has a shower cabin that can be turned into a sauna, a topnotch toilet bowl, and pretty tiles. Cabinets under the sink can be used as the storage for cleaning supplies and toiletries. A decorative mirror was chosen to spruce it up since the wall tiles are simple.

Room

The door inside Pokwang’s bedroom leads to Pokwang’s prayer room. In her previous interview, she shared: “Dapat ‘to, gusto nila, parang gym. Sabi ko, ‘No.’ Gawin ko na lang siyang prayer room ko. ‘Di ba? Bilang Siya naman ang nagbigay sa kung anong mayroon ako,” she shares. Match stools and kneelers were placed in front of the altar.

Facade

The roof deck is good for get-togethers with a place for meals, barbecue nights, and a fun night with family and friends.

Pokwang gave birth to her third child (first child with Lee O’Brian) in Antipolo city, last January 18. She named her “Francine Malia”.
